David L. Rodrigues, researcher at the Centre for Psychological Research and Social Intervention (CIS-Iscte), has been appointed to join the Gender and Rights Advisory Panel (GAP) of the UNDP/UNFPA/UNICEF/WHO/World Bank Special Programme of Research, development and Research Training in Human Reproduction (HRP), led by the World Health Organization (WHO). His three-year term will run from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2028.

The GAP was established in 1996 and plays a key role in reviewing WHO’s work in the field of sexual, reproductive, maternal, child, and adolescent health and ageing from a gender and human rights perspective. It operates within the framework of the HRP. With the goal of providing expert advice and guidance on integrating gender equality and human rights, members of this advisory panel help shape the programme’s work, advise on research priorities, follow global debates on reproductive rights, and provide recommendations to WHO experts.
CIS-Iscte congratulates David Rodrigues’ achievement, which underscores the international recognition of Rodrigues’s academic and scientific work in the areas of gender, sexuality, and human rights, and strengthens CIS-Iscte’s contributions to informing global scientific and policy agendas.
