RESEARCH UNIT FUNDING
CIS-Iscte is rated as "Excellent" by FCT. This classification is based on the scientific and technological activities carried out between 2018 and 2023, as well as the objectives, strategies, activity plan, and organizational model proposed for the period 2025 to 2029. As a result, CIS-Iscte received three program contracts.

Multi-Year Funding for R&D Units, 2025–2029
CIS-Iscte received a total of 1.876.778,36€ from FCT for the period 2025-2029. The total funding allocated to the R&D Unit comprises the base funding and programmatic funding components, which are intended to further the objectives set forth in Article 11 of the Regulation, namely:

Strengthen the institutional foundation of the national science and technology system through R&D units;

Support the provision of basic shared resources for R&D activities and initiatives aimed at creating, strengthening, or enhancing the conditions provided by each R&D unit to better achieve its objectives;

To supplement, as deemed appropriate, the funding secured by R&D units for general activities and the strengthening of internationalization, in order to ensure institutional conditions that maximize the use of available resources, particularly to stimulate strategies for career development and stabilization. To contribute to the costs of further exploitation of the results of activities and projects already completed whose objectives have been successfully achieved.

Investment C05-i13 - Scientific Research Units (PRR)
This financial support of 152.849,11€ is intended for the modernisation and restructuring of scientific research units, including their digital transformation, and is aimed at the acquisition of major scientific equipment, sets of scientific instruments, scientific archives and data, other knowledge-based resources, computing and programming systems, communication networks that promote open digital access, and/or other instrumental infrastructure to foster excellence in research and innovation activities, and was approved under AAC No. 01/C05-i13/2025 by the Intermediate Beneficiary on 21 July 2025 and entered into on 1 September 2025, pursuant to Article 45(1) of Decree -Law No. 63/2019 of 16 May, published in Series I of the Diário da República under No. 94, which establishes the legal framework for institutions engaged in research and development, and pursuant to the Regulation on the Evaluation and Multi-annual Funding of R&D Units, of Decree -Law No. 29-B/2021 of 4 May, in its current version, which establishes the governance model for European funds allocated to Portugal through the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP), Technical Guidelines of the RRP, Regulation No. 404/2022, amended and republished by Regulation No. 1251-A/2023, published in the Official Gazette, 2nd series, No. 225, of 21 November, hereinafter referred to as the Regulation, and mutually accepting this programme contract.
