CIS-Iscte researcher Ângela Romão participated in the Conversas que Cuidam podcast, an initiative by Líder in partnership with Fidelidade on well-being, health, and balance, both inside and outside of work.
Ângela Romão took part in the first episode of the podcast, dedicated to informal caregivers, exploring the challenges of the “sandwich effect,” the emotional and physical impact of caregiving, and strategies for self-care, work-life balance, and good organizational practices. The episode also featured nurse Bruna Fernandes and was hosted by psychologists Rita Figueiredo and Soraia Jamal.
For the CIS-Iscte researcher, being an informal caregiver means “providing care, usually unpaid, to someone in a situation of dependency,” whether due to chronic illness, disability, or aging. Tasks include assistance with feeding and hygiene, but also medication management and emotional support, which can have impacts in the caregiver's mental health.
