The FSM-funded project "Creating an updated framework on Community Acceptance of Renewable Energy" (CAREsolar) released its final handbook: A practical guide for supporting socially acceptable solar photovoltaic parks. This 50-page document brings together several insights from across the social sciences about large-scale solar, with an approach that is also interesting to people outside of academia.

Besides providing an overview of the diverse reasons that large-scale solar plants are increasingly contested, the authors Susana Batel and Ross Wallace (CIS-Iscte) critically explore some of the key socio-technical innovations that are being discussed in the literature as potential pathways towards solar energy justice.
The CAREsolar project funded by the Swiss Research Foundation for Electricity and Mobile Communication (FSM), was established to build an “updated framework on community acceptance of renewable energy infrastructures”, combining social science research with real-world perspectives to help smooth the path for solar deployments that are both environmentally effective and socially legitimate.
