Last Earth Day, April 22, 2025, COST Association highlighted several COST Actions on an article titled "Cultivating soil solutions, metal balance and rural youth". The COST Action 18213 - Rural NEET Youth Network (RNYN), coordinated by Francisco Simões (CIS-Iscte) was one of them.

RNYN was mentioned for its approach to training rural youth and promoting community resilience. By engaging young people who are not in education, employment, or training (NEET), RNYN contributed to revitalizing rural areas, ensuring that the next generation is actively involved in sustainable land stewardship and community development. This initiative underscored the importance of integrating social inclusion with environmental sustainability, demonstrating how supporting rural youth can lead to healthier soils and more resilient communities across Europe.

The RNYN Action members were awarded a COST Innovators Grant the Future Youth Information for Rural Areas (FYI-R), also mentioned in the article. Check the full article here.
