Today, February 11, CIS-Iscte joins the community celebrating women and girls in science.

Since 2015, this date marks the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, as a way to draw attention to gender inequality that hinders the opportunities and careers of women in science, technology and innovation. According to UNESCO, in 2026, women represent only 35% of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) graduates worldwide.

We advocate for girls’ access to quality STEM learning through inclusive education policies that promote gender equity for all girls and women wanting to become scientists.
