The paper “Towards a Typology of Prompts for Human-AI Interaction: Mapping Intent and Complexity with Lay Users” has received the Best Paper Award at the 12th International Conference on Multimedia and Human Computer Interaction (MHCI 2025).

Marijose Páez Velázquez is a student of the Masters’ in Emotion Sciences at Iscte-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa and this work was supervised by CIS-Iscte researchers Elzbieta Bobrowicz-Campos and Patricia Arriaga. CIS-Iscte congratulates the research team for this achievement.
The study lays an empirical foundation for investigating complexity comparable types of interaction between lay users and LLM-powered conversational agents. Ultimately, this study contributes to advancing research in human-AI interaction, offering a validated set of prompts suitable for investigating trust dynamics, emotional responses, and other key constructs in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). The open science paper is available here, and you can watch its presentation below, courtesy of the research team.
