Our researcher César Lima (CIS-Iscte) is the first author of an article published in the prestigious journal Trends in Cognitive Sciences, the highest-ranked journal in Experimental and Cognitive Psychology according to Scopus, with an impact factor of 20.
Entitled “Rethinking musicians as a model for plasticity and transfer”, the article proposes a reassessment of the role of musicians as a model for studying brain plasticity — the brain’s ability to adapt and change through experience — and transfer of skills, namely, how learning in one domain can influence abilities in other domains.
The article is co-authored by César Lima (CIS-Iscte, Iscte-IUL), Francesca Talamini (Universität Innsbruck), and E. Glenn Schellenberg (CIS-Iscte, University of Toronto Mississauga). The work contributes to a deeper understanding of the relationship between musical experience, learning, and cognition.
