Our researcher Rita Guerra (CIS-Iscte) took part in the discussion held as part of the launch of the “Make Inclusion Your Rule” campaign, which took place on 30 September at Casa do Brasil in Lisbon.

During her intervention, Rita Guerra highlighted the power of personal narratives as tools for fostering empathy and perspective-taking, bringing those who engage with the campaign closer to the experiences of others. Rita also emphasised the ethical challenges associated with the public exposure of such experiences, warning of the risk of backlash and the potential amplification of discriminatory discourse directed at the people and communities already affected by these practices.

Following the event, the article “Discrimination or a Culture of Poverty? Reflections on the Launch of the ‘Make Inclusion Your Rule’ Campaign” has now been published, bringing together some of the key questions and reflections shared during the discussion.
