Our faculty member and researcher Carla Moleiro (CIS-Iscte) participated in the Public Hearing (III Session) on Gender Self-Determination, organized by the Committee on Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Guarantees of the Portuguese Parliament.

In her intervention, she presented rigorous scientific evidence and clinical perspectives, highlighting the main difficulties, inconsistencies, instances of discrimination, and gaps identified in the legislation under discussion. She also drew attention to the lack of respect for the autonomy and dignity of adults, as well as the insufficient protection of children and young people, emphasizing the lack of alignment between these legal provisions and the practices and recommendations advocated by national and international scientific associations.

The full recording of the public hearing is available on the Portuguese Parliament’s ARTV channel (29 September 2026) at: https://canal.parlamento.pt/cid/10011/audicao-publica
