'A teu lado' project advances with training sessions and the validation of a scale

The project A teu lado has as main goals: to break the domestic violence cycle, intervening early, with support at school, the day after a domestic violence episode, and psychotherapy, whenever justified, after the news of domestic violence experienced by children/youth. It also intends to address models and representations of gender that accept and normalize gender violence.

So far, the project has been presented at a national level to the heads of the partner entities, as well as regionally, in the areas covered by the project, to the interlocutors of the local partners (CPCJ, PSP, GNR and schools).

It should be noted that the first training session has already taken place in the different territories, with a scope of 237 professionals including teachers, security forces and members of CPCJ.

The construction of a beliefs about children and youth victims of domestic violence scale is highlighted, in order to carry out a comparative study between professionals and the general population. The first results of the scale's development were presented as a poster at the 5th Congresso da Ordem dos Psicólogos Portugueses (annual conference of the Portuguese Psychologists' Association).

A meeting is underway with the partners ISS and PGR, in order to integrate the magistrates in the collaborative network of the project. Meetings with the focal points of the territories will start this week, for an effective implementation of the model.
