Patrícia Arriaga holds a PhD in Social and Organizational Psychology (2006, ISCTE). She graduated with a Bachelor degree in Psychology (1996, ISPA) and completed a Master in Clinical Psychology and Psychopathology (2000, ISPA). Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at ISCTE – University Institute of Lisbon and coordinates the Master in Sciences on Emotions (former title: "Psychology of Emotion").
Her research interests include:
Media and Entertainment Research: emotional gratification and the effects of video-games, movies, music on emotions, cognitions, and behavior.
Interventions in human-to-human interaction (e.g., hospital clown doctors) and human-computer interaction (human-robot interaction, video-games, multimedia applications) on emotional, motivation and cognitive domains.
Flow of emotions and attention in narrative messages: Analyse continuously emotional and attentional shifts in individuals, combining self-report, physiological measures (e.g., electrodermal activity, facial electromyography, heart rate, pupil dilation, eye movements) and behavioral tendencies and responses.
