David Rodrigues has been using different methodological approaches to study interpersonal relationships. His research interests are focused on relationship quality and pro-relationship behaviors (e.g., willingness to forgive); perceptions about non(monogamy) and its association with relationship quality; sexual behaviors; extra-dyadic behaviors and perceptions of infidelity; individual regulatory focus; regulatory focus in relationships; regulatory focus in sexuality; and intentions/actual condom use. His research interests also include computer mediated communication and the use of emoji in written communication; and the validation of measures and materials to be used in research.
